What it is
VC Platform is a peer-run group dedicated to helping platform-focused individuals within the Venture Capital landscape. For this project, the executive team surveyed 600+ individuals for the 2022 VC Platform Global Compensation Survey to better understand compensation, benefits, industry trends, and emerging practices across global venture firms. 2022 was a large milestone for the VC Platform organization as participation in the survey increased by 50% with international respondents increasing by over 100%. The survey expanded into new areas such as details of carried interest plans, leave of absence practices, modern benefits offerings, in-depth compensation benchmarks, and more.
My Role
I partnered with the executive team at VC Platform to clean all raw survey data results, conduct data analyses on responses, and personally designed all charts, calculators, and visuals for the 2022 Compensation survey.
I collaborated with internal Sequoia experts on both the Compensation and Benefits Services lines to understand the most pertinent industry trends and used their intel to design and craft the insights for the survey. This report’s structure and visuals were well received by the community and they were recycled for the 2023 iteration
Through this engagement I formed relationships with the VC Platform executive team and dove into what it means to work in Platform. I grew my network with operators and Platform professionals within the VC space as well as expanded my knowledge of compensation and rewards practices by diving into carried interest plans.
